Question about using a JVC digital video cam?

OK, I have a JVC digital video camera … Model # GR-DV800U am trying to find a way to put a video from the camcorder directly to your computer. I hear you need a DV Firewire cable. What kind of software I need to use this on my computer? I need the easiest way to make this possible. LOL Is there a website where I can get everything I need to do this? I have a card 1GB memory for the camera as well, and I can put the video of existence, but not sure if I can get the memory card to the computer using only my USB cable. Please HELP! LOL If possible, just give me any and all options available to me, and some have been doing this! Thanks!

A miniDV tape can be equal to 8.6 GB This is what you need: - JVC camcorder and a tape with recorded material on it - 6-pin to 4-pin "cable IEEE 1394 (aka FireWire) - A fast PC (Pentium 4 2.0GHz, at least) that is clean, no spyware and resource hogging programs running in the background. - Your PC must have a Firewire connection, if not, buy a PCI card to connect the cable on it. - Now you have to download software capture as Pinnacle 10 or Ulead Media Studio. Very simple to use programs. - Connect your camcorder to your PC, then start the software. Some adjustments in the software may be necessary because there are many types of devices. Remember that you are using MS IEEE 1394 plug-in for the software. The software I mentioned can burn DVDs, so follow instructions. NOTE: If you can not get the software, Windows XP prompts you to use your software, Movie Maker when you connect the cable to the PC. This is an option to test their teams, but not recommended the use of its software, due to loss of video quality. Give it a try anyway, because you may want to use for the subject that YouTube, which is fine.

Help Problem With Memory Upgrade and My Computer?

I purchased 2, 1 GB Memory Module corsair brand for my Sony Vaio. I installed them my computer read them fine but now I am having problems when I start up my computer. It gives me a blank screen for close to two minutes before it starts up windows. Then after that it makes me wait about another two minutes before the programs load. What could be causing this?? The computer has 3GB of memory now and it didn’t have the problem before I put in the memory. Any suggestions??? Also the first time I booted it up I turned it on without connecting anything but the monitor and it started up like a champ. But once I connected the key board and everything else that’s when it started giving me the problems.

A couple of things that you need to do when you add memory.

1) when the system starts you have to go into bios and insure the computer sees the new memory, even though the computer is ’smart’ it doesn’t always see the upgade of devices.

2) Once the computer is running you need to change the size of the swap file.
My Computer/Propeties
Go to Advanced tab
Go to Performance tab
At the bottom you will see virtual memory, click button
How many dirves are in the box? If you have two spread
the swap file across two drives, 2 gig each, if you only have
one drive your swap file can only be 2 gig, sorry but once
the file gets to 2 gig the OS has problmes opening, closing
and maintaing it.
For each drive set the intial and maximum to 2 gig.
Save and restart.

Amp-Hour Rating

NiMH vs. NiCad vs. Li Ion: Picking What’s Right for You


Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) Batteries:

I don’t think I could define it better than wiki pedia: ‘A nickel metal hydride battery, abbreviated NiMH, is a type of rechargeable battery similar to a nickel-cadmium (NiCd) battery but has a hydrogen-absorbing alloy for the anode instead of cadmium. Like in NiCd batteries, nickel is the cathode.’


Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) advantages:

– lighter than NiCad

– 2-3X capacity to equal size NiCad


Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) disadvantages:

– fewer life cycles compared to NiCad

– shorter run time

– performs the worst in cold temperatures, so keep that in mind if you plan to use tools powered by NiMH outdoors in cold weather

– higher self-discharge level than NiCad

– voltage drop at near-discharged levels


Nickel cadmium (NiCd) Batteries:

According to Wiki pedia: the ‘nickel-cadmium battery (commonly abbreviated NiCd and pronounced ‘nye-cad’) is a popular type of rechargeable battery for portable electronics and toys using the metals nickel (Ni) and cadmium (Cd) as the active chemicals.’


Nickel cadmium (NiCad) advantages:

– longer life cycles

– performs in cold temperatures (perform well to 20F)

– lower self-discharge level than NiMH

– no voltage drop at near discharged levels


Nickel cadmium (NiCad) disadvantages:

– Heavy, making it harder to use for longer periods of time

– May suffer from ‘Memory Effect’ or ‘False Bottom Effect’ if constantly discharged half-way and then recharged (wiki pedia)


The Lithium ion (Li-Ion) Battery:

The new comer to power tool batteries, Lithium Ion are hot because they have ‘one of the best energy-to-weight ratios, no memory effect and a slow loss of charge when not in use,’ according to Wiki pedia.


Lithium ion (Li-Ion) advantages:

– High performance in cold weather - to 0F - great for winter outdoor use

– Light weight. You can lift tools powered by Lithium Ion over your head all day.

– Increased life cycles over NiCad and NiMH, so it keeps going past other batteries

– more rapid charge times that get you back on the job more quickly


Lithium ion (Li-Ion) disadvantages:

– less tested than other battery formats - in early stages of development

– has a shelf life based on life of battery, not related to charge or charge time

– can sometimes erupt or explode in high heat - hot cars, direct sunlight, etc, or sometimes after tampering. a more dangerous battery than the others

– permanent damage to battery if stored at too-low discharge level, so be careful and keep these charged well

How much could i see this iphone for?

i have a 2g iphone with 8 gb of memory running the lastest software, in what im selling im including a wall charger, car charger, hard case, silicon case, new earphones and a cable to the computer. its in good condition aside from a small scratch on the fron screen that isnt very noticable. how much would you suggest this go for since i am interested in a blackberry which go for around 300 i’d like somewhere close to that area for it.

It looks like those phones are going for between $150 and $300 on eBay. Since it’s not unlocked, you won’t get top dollar for it.
